Cornrows are a popular protective hairstyle that can help to prevent breakage and promote healthy hair growth. However, taking care of your hair while it's in cornrows is primordial. Here are some tips on how to care for your hair when in cornrows:

  1. Keep Your Scalp Clean

It's important to keep your scalp clean and free of dirt and buildup. Use a gentle shampoo to cleanse your scalp and hair like Nguvu Black Soap Shampoo.

  1. Moisturize Your Hair

Cornrows can be drying to your hair, so it's important to keep your hair moisturized. Use a leave-in conditioner or hair oil to keep your hair hydrated. Focus on applying the product to your scalp and the roots of your hair. The Chebe hair oil from Uhuru moisturises and promotes hair growth.

  1. Avoid Tight Cornrows

Tight cornrows can cause tension and damage to your hairline, so it's important to avoid them.  If you feel any discomfort or pain, let your hairstylist know so that they can adjust the cornrows.

  1. Protect Your Hair at Night

To prevent your cornrows from getting frizzy, protect them at night. Use a satin bonnet or pillow to cover your hair while sleeping. This will also help to prevent any rubbing or pulling on your hair.

  1. Take Care When Removing Your Cornrows

When it's time to remove your cornrows, be gentle, use a hair oil or leave-in conditioner, like Mane Bliss mist to help loosen the braids before gently unravelling them. Don't pull or tug on your hair, as this can cause breakage and damage. Once the cornrows are removed, cleanse and condition your hair to help restore moisture and prevent any tangling.
